Description

The Old Barns is a house incorporating a late medieval barn. A further range was built in the 19th century, and the property was converted and extended in the 20th century. The barn is timber-framed with weatherboard cladding, a rubble stone plinth at the rear, and a whitewashed brick bay on the right side. It has a steeply pitched slate roof. The barn has one storey and an attic, with three bays. Windows are 2- and 3-light wooden casements, with first-floor windows in gabled dormers. A 20th-century double door is located between the left bays. The 19th-century range to the left is of whitewashed brick with a slate roof and similar casements. The barn’s interior features three cruck trusses, with the blades terminating just above the collar.
