Description

This property comprises a house and a barn, situated on the west side of High Street in Whitchurch. The house dates to 1792, as indicated by blue headers. It is constructed of red brick with blue headers between the bays, featuring a moulded brick plinth and modillion eaves. The roof is covered in old tiles, with brick chimneys at each end. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are wooden casements, with glazing altered in the 20th century. A 20th-century square bay window is located on the left-hand side, with a hipped tiled roof extending over a central half-glazed door, forming a porch. A ground-floor window on the right has a segmental head. The attached barn, dating to the 18th century, has been altered and largely rebuilt in red brick, with an old tile roof. It originally had three bays, with a projecting waggon entry in the centre, featuring a weatherboarded gable, and lean-to extensions to the outer bays. The centre bay retains the original roof structure, including double purlins on queen struts. The left bay of the barn has been converted into a house with 20th-century casements, skylights, and a door within the inner wall.
