Description
No. 242 on Boughton Street is a house and shop that dates from the 17th century and was refronted in the 18th century. It has a timber frame and is clad with red brick, topped by a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, set on a rendered plinth. There are two hipped dormers, with the one on the right rendered over, and chimney stacks on both the right and left sides, the left stack featuring moulded and angled brickwork. The windows are arranged regularly, with two metal casements on the first floor, one glazing bar sash to the left, and one shop window to the right, all featuring keyed and vermiculated lintels. The central entrance has a half-glazed door topped with a flat hood supported by brackets.
