Description
Style House is a 16th-century house built for William Rucke, a pointmaker who died in 1592. The building features a timber frame with exposed close-studding and plaster infill, and is underbuilt with painted brick. It has a plain tiled roof and consists of four framed bays, with the rightmost bay being a later addition. The house is two storeys high and has a continuous jetty supported by brackets, featuring an embattled bressummer with several different moulds. The eaves are coved, leading to a hipped roof with gablets, and there are stacks located at the centre right, projecting at the end left, and to the rear right. On the first floor, there are four irregularly sized wooden casements, while the ground floor has three canted bays with glazing bar sashes. The entrance includes a four-panelled door to the centre left and a glazed and frosted door at the end right. Inside, there is a carved overmantel with a cove and cornice.
