Description
The Spar Shop is a house and shop that dates back to the 15th century, with a refacing in the 19th century. It features a timber frame clad with painted brick and has a plain tiled roof. This hall house stands two storeys tall on a plinth and has a moulded brick eaves cornice beneath a hipped roof with gablets and a stack on the left side.
On the first floor, there are four tripartite glazing bar sash windows, while the ground floor has a tripartite wooden casement window to the left, a panelled door in a segmental surround to the centre left, and a plate glass shop window with a glazed door and flat hood to the right. To the right, there is a hipped extension that includes carriage doors and an additional door above.
Inside, the building features a simple square section crown post and smoke blackened timbers. At one time, it operated as a public house known as the Three Squirrels.
