Description
La Geneste is a former part of Westalls Farm buildings, as noted on the Tithe Schedule of 1839. This 19th-century cottage and two bays of a long barn now form a single building, possibly built on older foundations. The structure has undergone significant alterations and includes modern additions. The cottage features colour-washed brick and a handmade tile roof, and it is two storeys high. The first-floor windows are set in brick gables that rise into the roof, with a modillion eaves cornice continuing up the sides of the gables. The windows are double-hung sashes with cambered relieving arches and set-in reveals, complete with glazing bars. The south front includes a modern timber bay window. The barn is supported by two queen post trusses.
