Description
This is a 1911 building, designed by Lutyens for Princess Dolgorouki. It was later purchased by the Anglican Order of Benedictine Monks in 1929. The building is constructed of colourwashed stock bricks with a machine tiled roof sloping from all sides to a lead flat. It presents a symmetrical composition, with a central single-storeyed entrance bay flanked by two bays, each of four storeys and five bays in width. The entrance bay features a portico with Tuscan columns and piers, supporting an entablature with a balustrade, incorporating doors on either side and an iron gate leading to an open court. The flanking bays contain sash windows, and round windows are found within the mezzanine floor. A modern red brick extension is located to the left of the main building.
