Description
The walls, railings, and gate piers enclosing the entrance court at Cliveden were mostly built in 1869 by H Clutton. In front of the house, there are four stone gate piers topped with ball finials, along with railings and gates between them. On each side of the court, there are red brick walls featuring a small English Baroque doorway in the center and tall stone piers with urns at each end. Further from the house, beyond the piers, are low pavilions with brick walls and stone balustrading. At the north ends of these pavilions, each corner has a pier with a ball finial that matches the central gate piers. The right side wall leads down to the stable block, while the left side wall ends near the house with a circular dovecote that has a pointed roof and some stone detailing. Behind the left side wall is a long conservatory made of timber, iron, and glass, featuring a 15-bay ridge and furrow roof. At the end of the roadway by the conservatory, there are additional stone gate piers with ball finials and an iron gate.
