Description
The screen walls and gate piers of Harrington House, dating from around 1730 and contemporary with the house, are notable features fronting Sherborne Street. The gateposts are made of fine vermiculated stone, adorned with cornices and enriched ball finials. There are dwarf walls with replacement cast-iron railings, and rubble screen walls on either side. The large ashlar end pier has a vase finial, while the smaller pier features a ball finial. The original gates are missing and have been replaced with modern versions. The walls extend to the left and right, constructed of rubble and supported by wall buttresses capped by ball finials. To the left, there are three gate piers for stables, and to the right, the wall continues as a boundary.
