Description
The Liberty family memorial, located to the north of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, is a memorial cross and enclosure designed by Archibald Knox between 1916 and 1917. Made of granite, it features a Celtic wheel cross with Art Nouveau influences and inset panels of interlaced foliage in the Viking Ringerike style. The enclosure consists of granite slabs separated by blocks with rounded tops. The cross is positioned on a larger block on the east side of the enclosure and is inscribed with "Arthur Lazenby Liberty Kt. Born 29th November 1845. Died 2nd May 1920." The sides of the memorial later received additional inscriptions for other members of the Liberty family.
