Description
The War Memorial on North Street in St Andrews was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer in 1922. It features a white granite Celtic high cross with a sword depicted in low relief on the shaft. The memorial stands on a plinth with a double base course, also made of white granite, which includes an inset grey granite slab that is inscribed. The cross is set within a semi-octagonal enclosure that is accessed by shallow steps, surrounded by a wall made of snecked rubble. The base course has a battered cope, and there are name panels inset on three sides, adorned with roll-moulded rybats and lintels.
