Description
The Roundel, located at 1 South Street in St Andrews, is a building dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It features a three-storey façade with five windows, constructed from rubble and slate, with margins. A notable feature is the finely detailed architraved doorpiece, which dates to around 1680 and has undergone significant repairs. The building includes an ashlar corner roundel that has a Gothic doorway and a top balustrade, which is said to be made of tomb balusters. The ground floor is vaulted, and the interior is of particular interest. The building was consolidated in 1975.
