Description
Dean's Court, located on North Street in St Andrews, is an Archdeacon's Manse that likely dates back to the early 16th century and was reconstructed by Sir George Douglas. The building features a two-storey structure with a vaulted full basement and an attic, arranged in an L-plan. It is constructed from rubble and has crowstepped gables. A screen wall with a wrought-iron gate is found in the footgate archway, designed by Reginald Fairlie in 1933, which displays the arms of Sir George Douglas above it. There is also a larger, altered archway and a draw-well situated in the courtyard. Inside, the manse contains two panelled rooms. The building underwent renovations in 1951, and the east and west gables were taken down in 1975 and then rebuilt in their original form.
