9/6 Bank barn & byre range c.40 yards south-west of Gilts farmhouse

GV II

Bank barn and byre range built at right-angles to road. 2 dated door lintels: 1675 on barn (initials weathered but said to be I.W.) and 1706, with initials T. & A.W., on byre. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins. Graduated slate roofs with outshut to rear of barn. 2-storey, 5-bay barn has central plank door in decorative chamfered surround with dated lintel; 2 small windows to either side (one has chamfered surround). Central plank winnowing door above in chamfered surround. 1st floor wagon entrance to centre rear, with direct access from hillside. Single-storey, 2-bay byre range adjoins to west: Plank door in chamfered surround, with dated lintel, on left and garage entrance, with plank double doors, on right. Range of buildings adjoining to west of byre not of interest.
