Description
Gilts Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from 1680, featuring the initials I. & E.W. on the lintel of a reset door. The building is constructed of whitewashed rubble with quoins and has graduated slate roofs. It is two storeys tall and consists of six bays overall, with a wing at the rear. The original four-bay house had a gable entry, but a cross-passage plan was introduced when a two-bay extension was added to the north end. The entrance features a panelled door in a chamfered doorcase with a false four-centred head and a dated lintel. There is one window to the left, two to the right, and four above, all of which are Yorkshire sashes with glazing bars. The original house has blocked two-light mullioned windows and a fire window, all under continuous hoodmoulds. The farmhouse is topped with stone mid and end chimneys.
