Description
This building is a bank barn located approximately 10 meters northeast of Geslings in Dent. It is likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century and has been altered. The barn is constructed of roughly coursed sandstone rubble, featuring through-stones and quoins, and has an asbestos sheet roof. It has a rectangular plan oriented on a north-south axis, positioned at right angles to the slope, with a shippon under the north end and a lean-to added to the south end. The barn probably consists of three bays.
On the west side, there are four interrupted courses of through stones, a large square wagon doorway at the south end with a wooden lintel that is protected by a stone slate drip-band, and a window at the lower level of the north end, also featuring a stone slate drip-band. The lean-to on the right has a similar doorway with a comparable lintel and drip-band, though it has been reduced in width by blocking the right-hand half. The north gable wall includes three shippon doorways and five courses of through-stones. The east side has a wagon doorway that is opposite the one at the front and is similar in design. The interior has not been inspected. The barn is included for its group value with Geslings.
