Description
The Old Vicarage and the Old Parsonage are two dwellings that were originally a vicarage and parsonage, dated 1673 on the lintel of the parsonage door. The buildings were extended in the 18th and 19th centuries and have been altered over time. They are constructed of white-painted rubble with a stone slate roof that is arranged on two levels.
The layout features an irregular plan with a single-depth, two-unit parsonage oriented east-west and facing north. At the west end, there is a one-bay double-depth extension, while the vicarage on the left has a single-depth, one-bay front range and a large double-depth addition at the rear from the 19th century.
On the exterior, the parsonage has two low storeys and two windows. It features a square-headed doorway on the right with a part-glazed door, and the lintel displays raised lettering that reads "H : 1673 / H / T M". There is a stone slate drip-course over the ground floor to the left, an early 20th-century rectangular two-light casement window at ground level, and two small three-light mullioned windows above, which have chamfered flush mullions. The extension to the right projects forward and has two higher storeys, with a large 19th-century two-light window at ground level featuring a chamfered mullion, and a sashed window with margin panes above.
The Old Parsonage to the left has a square-headed doorway at the junction, which includes a 20th-century door and a glazed porch. There is a small square opening at a low level to the left, and above that, a tall 24-pane window, possibly a stair window. The building features a ridge chimney at the junction of the lower range and a gable chimney to the left of that, along with an extruded chimney at the left gable of the addition to the right. The rear of the property includes a 19th-century two-storey, two-window addition facing south, which has two large 30-pane sash windows on each floor. The interior has not been inspected.
