Description
Middleton Cottage is a small house, likely built in the early 18th century, and has been altered over time. It features roughly-coursed rubble with quoins, and the north front and west gable are painted white. The building has a stone slate roof and a two-unit plan. It stands two low storeys tall and has two widely-separated windows. The central entrance has a square-headed doorway, with two fixed 4-pane windows to the left at ground level, a small 4-pane sash window to the right, and two small sash windows on the first floor, containing 12 and 4 panes respectively. Gable chimneys are present. At the rear, there is a doorway with a 20th-century door, one 4-pane sash window to the right, and two above, with the second being smaller. The interior has not been inspected. Middleton Cottage forms a group with The Wool Shop to the left, the Post Office to the left of that, and the George and Dragon opposite.
