Description
The Siege Ghyll is a cottage, likely dating from the mid-18th century, and subsequently extended and altered. It is constructed of white-painted rubble with quoins, and has a stone slate roof. The cottage has a double-fronted plan and a gable facing the road. The main section is symmetrical, with two windows on each floor. A stone slate drip-course runs above the ground floor windows, and there is a square-headed doorway with a fielded panel door, now protected by a 20th-century glazed porch. The doorway is flanked by two 16-pane sash windows on each floor. Stone gutter brackets are present, and a gable chimney stands to the left. A two-storey extension is attached to the right-hand end, which is blank on the exterior and has gable chimneys. The rear elevation features a 24-pane stair-window in the centre, along with some smaller windows. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage forms a group with the Post Office to the northwest and Hill House opposite.
