Description
This barn, located approximately 50 meters west of Lunds Farmhouse in Dentdale, is likely from the 18th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed from sandstone rubble laid in courses, with quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn has a rectangular five-bay layout oriented north-south, positioned at right angles to a gentle slope, and features shippons at the lower southern end.
There are two shippon doorways in the first bay and a small window to their left, as well as another shippon doorway on a slightly higher level in the second bay. All these openings are topped with monolith lintels. Additionally, there is a shallow segmental-headed wagon doorway in the fourth bay, which has rubble voussoirs. The rear and interior of the barn were not inspected. This structure forms a group with Lunds Farmhouse.
