Description
This barn, located approximately 5 meters east of Lund's Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and has been slightly altered. It is constructed of handmade red brick in English garden wall bond (4+1) and features a stone slate roof. The barn has three bays and includes an integral outshut at the rear of the third bay. It is tall in relation to its length, with a large semi-elliptical headed wagon doorway in the center, which has stone imposts and two stone hinge-anchors in each jamb, along with wooden double doors. There are diamond-pattern breathers on three levels and similar breathers in the left gable wall, although the right-hand corner has been recently rebuilt in 20th-century brick. The right-hand return wall contains a blocked segmental-headed doorway, while the rear features a square-headed wagon doorway with a pegged wooden doorcase. Inside, there are triangular piers to the doorways with lamp-holes, a brick partition in the east bay with a large two-centred archway leading to the loft, and two king-post roof trusses with fishbone struts. This barn forms a group with Lund's Farmhouse, which is located approximately 5 meters to the west.
