Description
The barn, located to the south-west of Hall Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century and is one of a pair of similar barns that have been converted for commercial use. It is constructed of gault and red brick with a slate and peg tile roof, featuring a T-shaped plan with a central waggon porch that projects to the east.
The east front elevation showcases gault brick walling with a chequer pattern of aerating pierced bricks. The central porch is made of red brick, with a slated roof that is fully hipped, while the barn itself has a half-hipped roof. The porch doorway has been infilled with 20th-century weatherboarding. There is a ground floor door and window, with an additional window located above.
On the rear, or west elevation, the structure is flat and mirrors the front, featuring a central waggon way with a 20th-century metal door and three upper glazed lights, which have glazing bars and consist of nine panes in total. The facade is accentuated by eight red brick pilasters that rise to similar eaves with an entablature. The roof is peg-tiled.
The north end elevation has a half-hipped gable end, with red brick detailing that continues from the west elevation up to the gable. A central upper segment-headed window, which was originally a loading door, still retains its pintles. The roof structure is made of softwood and features a V strut system.
