Description

Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1800, with a small addition from the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with some burnt headers and has a peg-tiled roof. The building has an L-shaped plan consisting of two parallel blocks facing the road, along with a rear wing. It stands two storeys high and has a cellar.

The front elevation facing east features three windows, with end ridge stacks. There is a central doorway with a flat composition hood supported by simple consoles, leading to a four-panelled door. On either side of the door are narrow sash windows with one-over-two panes. The remaining five windows are sashes with glazing bars arranged in three-over-four panes, with segment-headed windows on the ground floor. To the north of the doorway, there is a basement window with a grille, while a window to the south is blocked.

The rear elevation facing west includes a gable end of the rear wing, which has a blocked window on the first floor. To the south, there is a set-back rear range with a 20th-century three-light casement window on the ground floor and a side 20th-century lean-to brick porch. The first floor has sash windows, one with three-over-four panes and another with four-over-four panes. There is a stack at the southern end.

The south side elevation features two gabled ends of a double pile, each with a central exterior stack. The eastern block has casement windows on both the ground and first floors, while the western block has a narrow 20th-century fixed light. On the west side of the rear wing, the ground floor has a 20th-century lean-to with an arched entry head leading to an inner 19th-century door with four bead-moulded panels, along with an adjacent two-light casement window. The first floor has a four-over-four paned sash window, and there is a stack at the west end ridge.

The north side elevation shows a long range of the front block gable end with the rear wing to the west. It has three stacks: one at the eastern gable apex, a central one for the rear wing through the roof pitch, and a western ridge stack. The windows and doorway are segment-headed, with two ground floor sash windows, one with three-over-four panes and another with four-over-four panes. There is a 20th-century fully glazed door with a side light, and the outline of a blocked doorway to the west. The first floor has four sash windows, all with three-over-four panes. Several windows throughout the house feature stone sills.

The interior of Hall Farmhouse is essentially plain, with several ceiling joists now exposed.
