Description
The barn located to the west of Hall Farmhouse is an early 19th-century structure that has been converted for commercial use. It is built from gault and red brick and features slate roofs. The barn has a T-shaped plan with a central waggon porch that projects to the east.
The east front elevation showcases gault brick walling with a chequer pattern of aerating pierced bricks, along with a central porch made of red brick. The barn roof is half hipped, while the porch roof is fully hipped. The lower part of the porch doorway is blocked with red brick, and there is a large two-leaf loading door above it.
The rear west elevation is flat and mirrors the front, featuring a central waggon way with a 20th-century metal door and three upper glazed lights, which include glazing bars with a total of nine panes arranged in a 3x2 configuration. The facade is accentuated by eight red brick pilasters that rise to an eaves entablature. An upper loading door is located in the second bay from the north. At the north end, there is a ground floor red brick lean-to.
The south end elevation has a half hipped gable end, with red brick detailing similar to the west elevation, extending up to the gable. It features a central upper segment-headed window that was originally a loading door, with pintles still remaining.
Inside, the barn is constructed of red brick, consistent with the porch, indicating that both the barn and porch were built at the same time. The roof is made of softwood and features a V strut system.
