Description
The Brick Barn is a field barn dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a steeply pitched roof that has been covered with corrugated sheeting, replacing the original thatch. The barn has a T-shaped plan and crow-stepped gables on the east and west sides, which are adorned with moulded eaves corbels.
On the west gable, which faces Gillingham Hall, there is a large blind five-light window with a painted-arch head and intersecting tracery, featuring plastered infill and plain brick mullions and tracery. A later inserted cross window is positioned at a high level. The east gable includes a six-light window with ventilation loops located below it.
A central projecting porch is present on the north side, topped with a gable parapet and corbelled eaves. The south wall has a central double door opening, while the north wall contains ventilation loops. The roof structure consists of staggered butt purlins and unbraced tie beams.
