Description
Windle Hill Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse constructed of red brick with dark headers, which was formerly limewashed. It features a hipped roof covered in smut pantiles. The building has two storeys and attics, with an L-shaped plan. The main facade faces east and is symmetrical, consisting of three bays with sashes that have glazing bars set in segmental headed openings. The central doorway has a six-panelled door topped by a rectangular fanlight with decorative glazing bars. This doorway is framed by a pilastered doorcase that includes a fluted frieze and a dentilled cornice, along with panelled reveals. There is a platband at the first-floor level and a brick dentilled eaves cornice.
The fenestration on the north wall has been altered, with two blocked openings, a ground floor 20th-century cross casement with glazing bars, and a first-floor sash. At the rear, there is a later gabled 2.5-storey wing that has 20th-century casements. The west gable shows tumbling-in at the base and has an internal chimney stack, while the front range has two chimney stacks. Additionally, there are two entrance doors located at the north-east angle of the building.
