SD6987 DENTDALE 162-1/23/19 (North side) 14/06/84 Barn approx. 10m south-west of Biggerside Farmhouse (Formerly Listed as: DENTDALE Biggerside and Barn to south-west)

Barn with attached store. Probably C18; altered and partly rebuilt, with outshut shippon and loosebox added to west side. Coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins, stone slates to west slope of roof, corrugated sheet roof to east slope and to added shippons on west side, stone slate roof to store. Rectangular plan on north-south axis, 8 structural bays, with store set back at north end. Segmental-headed wagon doorway offset right of centre; most of the wall to left of this recently rebuilt. Attached store, 2 low storeys, has steps up to loft doorway at junction with gable of barn, and square-headed doorway at ground floor to right. Rear: outshut shippon has stone slate roof, partly collapsed. INTERIOR: 7 principal rafter roof trusses, some with raked struts. Forms part of an important group with Biggerside Farmhouse (qv).
