Barn Approximately 10 Metres South West Of Biggerside Farmhouse

This is a barn located approximately 10 meters south-west of Biggerside Farmhouse in Dent, likely built in the 18th century. The barn has been altered and partly rebuilt, with an outshut shippon and loosebox added to the west side. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins. The roof features stone slates on the west slope and a corrugated sheet roof on the east slope and the added shippons on the west side, while the store has a stone slate roof.

The barn has a rectangular plan oriented on a north-south axis and consists of eight structural bays, with the store set back at the north end. There is a segmental-headed wagon doorway that is offset to the right of the center, and most of the wall to the left of this doorway has been recently rebuilt. The attached store has two low storeys, with steps leading up to a loft doorway at the junction with the barn's gable and a square-headed doorway at ground level to the right. At the rear, the outshut shippon has a stone slate roof and is partly collapsed.

Inside, there are seven principal rafter roof trusses, some of which have raked struts. This barn is part of an important group with Biggerside Farmhouse.
