ASKRIGG MAIN STREET (north side) Former Conservative Club

GV II

House. Late C17-early C18 with C19 alterations. Rubble, stone slate roof. 3 storeys, 2 first floor windows. Central 4-panel door below overlight in chamfered surround with interrupted jambs and raised lintel with recessed motif. Sash windows on ground and first floors. On ground floor an enlarged fire-window to left, blocked fire-windows on first and second floors. 9-pane unequally- hung sashes on second floor. Stone gutter brackets. Shaped kneelers. End stacks, that to right corbelled out from first floor. Right return: 2 blocked single-light chamfered windows on first and second floors. Interior: window shutters, and doors of 6 fielded panels.
