Description
Rose Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and has a stone slate roof, featuring brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The entrance door is located between the left-hand and central bays and has a plain surround.
On the ground floor, there are tripartite windows with flat-faced recessed mullions, a stepped central light, and plain surrounds, with sashes in the central light. The first floor has a similar but slightly smaller window in the right-hand bay, which features a central casement, while the other windows have sashes in plain flush surrounds. There are end stacks and a ridge stack located between the central and right-hand bays, aligned with a blocked doorway.
At the rear, there is a 17th-century two-light chamfered window, although the mullion is missing. Inside, the central ground floor room contains a small 18th-century fireplace and a fitted round-headed semi-circular cupboard with shaped shelves, flanking pilasters, and a cornice.
