Description
Tarka is a 18th-century house located on Malham Road in Kirkby Malham. The building is constructed from rubble and is limewashed, featuring stone dressings and a slate roof. The front slopes have stone coping and kneelers. There are 19th-century stone end stacks with moulded caps. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The entrance is to the left of the centre, with a door framed by plain square jambs, square bases, plain impost blocks, and a lintel, all set within a 19th-century rock-faced porch that has a coped gable on kneelers. The central first-floor window has a plain flush surround and a 16-pane sash. The other windows are three-light, with plain flush surrounds and flat-faced recessed mullions. The central lights have sashes flanked by fixed lights with glazing bars, and some original glass remains. Modillions are present at the eaves.
