Description

The Old Hall is a house dating to the late 17th century and early 18th century, with additions and alterations made in the early 19th century. The structure is built of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and includes rendered brick additions. It has a hipped slate roof with a large rubble and brick stack. A chamfered stone plinth and a brick band are visible above the first floor. The building is two storeys high, with an additional half-story added in the 19th century, and has a rectangular plan consisting of three bays by two bays.

The south front features an early 18th-century doorway, slightly off-centre, with an elaborate moulded surround, rustication, and a segmental pediment above. The doorway has a part-glazed, six-panel door and a small glazing bar sash window to the left. Flanking the doorway are single tripartite glazing bar sashes. Above the doorway is a single glazing bar sash, flanked by single tripartite glazing bar sashes. All these windows have rendered lintels with keystones. Above these, there are three small sashes. The west front has a central 20th-century half-glazed door flanked by single tripartite glazing bar sashes. Above this is a single tripartite sash, and a partially blocked similar window now containing a 20th-century casement. Above that are two small sashes.

The north front incorporates a single four-light mullion window from the 17th century, with chamfered mullions and a drip mould on the ground floor. Above this, a central two-light mullion window is flanked by single four-light mullion windows, with the window to the left having lost its central mullion; all are under a continuous drip mould. The remaining windows on this front are 20th-century replacements.
