Description
Gaskells Shop is a building that was originally a house, dating from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century shop front. It is constructed of brick and features a pantile roof, with brick coped gables and kneelers. The building has two brick gable stacks and decorated eaves. It is two storeys high and has three bays.
The central doorway has a segmental head, a wooden surround, and a bracketed hood, leading to a plank door with an overlight. To the right, there is an early 19th-century shop front with flanking pilasters that support an entablature, which displays a nameboard. This shop front includes a large 32-pane glazing bar window. To the left of the doorway, there is a single glazing bar sash window with a segmental head. Above this, there are two small glazing bar sashes with flat heads that align with the eaves.
