Description

This is a late 18th-century house with a shop. It is located in Provost Street, Fordingbridge. The building is constructed of brick with an old plain tile roof. It is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays, arranged in a double-pile plan. The front elevation features a central six-panel door set within an architrave frame, topped by a flat hood supported on brackets. To the left is a 16-pane flush-frame sash window. To the right is an early 19th-century shop front, featuring a central half-glazed double door and a rectangular fanlight above. Flanking the double door are elliptical bow shop windows, each with 24 panes. The shop front is framed by panelled pilasters that support a frieze which extends around the bows, broken above the door, and a cornice and fascia which also extend around the bows. The first floor has three 12-pane flush-frame sash windows. Brick stacks are located at each end of the building.
