Description
The Lodge is a house built in 1802 for Joseph Lodge, a brewer. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and features three main bays, along with two additional one-storey bays to the right. The three right-hand ground-floor bays are of earlier origin and are marked by quoins.
In the first three bays, there is a part-glazed door in bay three, which is topped by a fanlight with decorative glazing bars, all set within an ashlar surround on plinths with imposts and a tripartite keystone. The sash windows below are framed by deep lintels. The left end of the building has coping, and there is a corniced stack at both the left and right ends. The two right bays, which were originally an outbuilding, now serve as a kitchen and feature two round-arched openings that have been partly blocked to create small windows. The Lodge is included for its group value.
