Description
The Coach House and Stable Block is a disused structure dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, built for either John Pratt, a racehorse owner, or Joseph Lodge, a brewer. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof and consists of two storeys featuring eleven first-floor openings. The building has quoins and round-arched coach openings, which previously had board doors, located in bays 4 and 10. There are ashlar surrounds to the doorways in bay 6, which provides access to steps leading to the first floor, and to a six-panel door in bay 8. Bay 2 contains a board door flanked by small windows, while bays 5, 7, and 9 feature windows with projecting sills and sill-like lintels, with similar windows above. The right return of the building has two blocked keyed oculi. This structure is included for its group value.
