Description

Milestone located approximately 100 metres east of Low Branthwaites on Hawes Road, dating from the later 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular shaft with a flat-faced semicircular head. The milestone is painted white, with raised black lettering that reads: "SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD / FROSTROW / & SOOLBANK" on the head, "HAWES / 14 MILES" on the left side, and "SEDBERGH / 2 MILES" on the right side. This milestone is one of two in the parish and is part of a series of six located in Garsdale civil parish.
