Description

This is a milestone located approximately 10 metres west of East Little Town in Garsdale, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular shaft with a flat-faced semicircular head. The milestone is painted white, with raised lettering in black that reads "SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD" on the head, "SEDBERGH 7 MILES" on the left side, and "HAWES / 9 MILES" on the right side. This milestone is one of a series of six in the parish.
