Description

Milestone located approximately 75 metres west of Kirk Bridge in Garsdale, dating from the mid to later 19th century. This milestone is made of cast iron and features a triangular shaft with a flat-faced semicircular head. It is painted white with raised black lettering that reads "SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD" on the head, "SEDBERGH / 6 MILES" on the left side, and "HAWES / 10 MILES" on the right side. This milestone is one of a series of six in the parish.
