Description
Low House Bridge is a bridge over the Clough River, likely built in the 18th century and possibly rebuilt in the late 19th century after a flood. The bridge is constructed of sandstone rubble, which is roughly coursed in the abutments and snecked in the spandrels. It features a segmental arch made of rubble voussoirs, with a thin stone slate band now topped by iron railings that have replaced the original rubble parapets, of which only the ends remain. This bridge is included as part of a group with Low House Farmhouse, a barn on the east side of the entrance to Low House Farm, and a garden shelter located approximately 50 meters south-west of Low House Farmhouse. It remains listed despite the loss of the parapets because the structure of the arch is intact.
