Description

Ben's Bridge, located over the Clough River, is a packhorse bridge that likely dates back to the 17th century and was rebuilt after a flood in 1895. It is constructed from large snecked sandstone rubble. The bridge features a wide segmental arch made with rubble voussoirs, a stone slate band, and a narrow humped deck that is protected by parapets with triangular coping stones. At the time of the survey in October 1994, the soffit of the arch was reported to be cracked.
