Description
This is a milestone located approximately 10 metres east of Nether House in Garsdale, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular shaft with a flat-faced semicircular head, which is painted white. The milestone has raised black lettering that reads "SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD" on the head, "SEDBERGH / 3 MILES" on the left side, and "HAWES / 13 MILES" on the right side. It is one of a series of six milestones in this parish.
