Description
The former smithy at Farfield Mills is a small house, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of white-washed rubble with quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a small double-depth, double-fronted plan, with a large projecting lean-to on the right-hand end. It stands two low storeys tall and has two windows; the central doorway is protected by a 20th-century glazed porch and is flanked on each floor by small rectangular two-light casements. There is a two-stage chimney at the right-hand gable. The lean-to at the right-hand end overlaps the corner and includes a doorway in the front wall and three small windows in its return side. The rear and interior of the building have not been inspected.
