Description
Milestone located on the east corner of the junction with Frostrow Lane, likely dating from the 17th century. It is made of sandstone and features a roughly-hewn square shaft that stands approximately one metre high. The top of the milestone has crudely incised lettering, which is partially obscured, likely reading "Kirkby Stephen EIGHTEEN MILES" and "Garsdale." This milestone is similar to another located on the east side of Howgill Lane, opposite the junction with Slacks Lane. It was formerly known as the milestone on the corner of Garsdale Road and Frostrow Lane, situated 100 yards from Low Moss.
