Description

Pedge Croft Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century but was rebuilt, enlarged, and remodeled in the 19th century. It is constructed from mixed random rubble, including boulder-stones, with quoins, and the south front is roughcast. The roof is made of graduated green slate. The building has a three-unit plan arranged on an east-west axis, facing south, with a shallow rear outshut on the eastern half.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and features five windows, arranged in a grouping of four and one. On the ground floor of the main range, the doorway is slightly offset to the left and is protected by a late 19th-century wooden porch with trellis sides, a gabled roof, bargeboards, and a finial. To the left of the doorway is a large square six-pane sash window, followed by a narrow sash window without glazing bars, and another square six-pane sash window to the right. The upper floor has four similar six-pane sash windows. The one-bay section to the right has one similar window on each floor. There is a gable chimney to the left and a ridge chimney at the junction of the two sections.

At the rear, the main range has a gabled wooden porch offset to the left, a shallow oblong six-pane sash window near the west end, and three small four-pane sash windows above. The outshut has two windows on the ground floor and three flat-roofed dormers that break the eaves.

Inside, the farmhouse has been remodeled, but the eastern bay retains a large chamfered beam and the bottom portion of one cruck blade on the north side.
