Description
The Cuddy and Garden Cottage is a pair of cottages that were originally one house, dated 1712, with 19th and 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of squared rubble with stone dressings and has a stone slate roof. It features a former central staircase plan and is two storeys high with three bays.
There are paired central entrances; the left entrance has a moulded surround and a decorated lintel inscribed with "11 Al," along with a hoodmould featuring spiral stops and a plank door. The entrance on the right has a plain early 19th century surround and a four-panel door. A ground floor dripmould with spiral stops is present above the entrances.
The three ground floor windows are all double-chamfered; the right window is a two-light chamfered mullioned window with sashes that do not have glazing bars, while the two left-hand windows have been lowered and feature 20th century casements. Above, there are two similar windows on the upper floor, and the right-hand upper floor window is a double-chamfered two-light mullioned window with 20th century casements. The right-hand gable end and left-hand ridge have stacks. To the right, there is a 20th century projecting outshut with an entrance to Garden Cottage.
