Description

Numbers 7 and 8 are a pair of cottages, likely originally built as one house, dating from the late 17th century and restored in the 19th century. They are constructed of rubble stone, partially coursed, and feature a stone slate roof with three stone stacks. The cottages have a double range design, are single storey with an attic, and present three gables on the front, with the right-hand gable being slightly larger. Originally, there were only two gables on the right side, with the left bay added later in coursed stone and an additional stack.

Each gable has a window with a square hoodmould, featuring a 2-light stone mullion to the left and a 3-light metal casement in the centre and right. The ground floor includes a 2-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould to the left, a 3-light window in the centre, and two 2-light windows to the right. The original central doorway, which had a flush stone lintel and quoins, is now blocked with a 2-light metal casement. The entrances to both cottages are located on the returns.

In front of Number 7, there are two square gatepiers made of dressed stone, approximately 12 meters apart, each featuring a moulded cornice and a large stone ball finial on a two-step base, standing about 1.9 meters tall. Between the gatepiers is 19th-century wrought iron railing with twisted square section uprights and trefoil heads, along with two horizontal square section rails.
