Description

The Cottage is a mid-18th century cottage with additions made in the 19th century. It is located in Itchen Valley, Easton. The front is colourwashed brick and flint with brick dressings, and the additions feature brickwork; the roof is tiled. The original part of the building is two storeys and two bays, with an early 19th century two-storey bay added to the right, a single-storey hipped bay added to the left in the mid-19th century, and a late-19th century bay at the rear. A six-panel door sits within a 19th-century glazed timber porch, centrally located on the original building’s front. To either side of the door are 18th-century 12-pane segmental-headed sash windows. Above are two 12-pane sashes, all within flush frames. The right-hand bay is blank, while the left-hand bay has a canted bay window. Gable stacks are located at each end of the original building.
