Description
Forest Cottage is a mid-18th century cottage with early 19th century alterations and additions. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tiled roof. The building has a double gable end stack on the right and a gable end stack on the left. There is a brick dentil eaves cornice along the front. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays, with an early 19th century outshut added at the rear, mostly covered by a catslide roof.
The front was remodeled in the early 19th century, featuring raised eaves, tiled window sills, and segmental arches over the window openings. A central single storey gabled timber porch, which is open at the front, is also a 19th century addition. The porch has a vertical board door. On either side of the porch, there are two-light casements on both floors, with cast-iron frames that include glazing bars arranged in a 6x4 pane configuration, with the bars arched to points in the top rows of panes. There is a narrower blocked window in the central bay above the porch, and the right-hand window on the first floor has a timber lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
