Description

The Ash Cottages, now a pair, originated in the 17th century and were altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. They are timber-frame cottages with brick infill and a refronting, covered by a thatched roof. The cottages are one-and-a-half storeys high and originally three bays, with an additional bay added later on the right-hand side. The front elevation has a central gabled timber porch with lattice work. To the left of the door and in the right-hand bay are three-light casement windows. A two-light casement window is located in the left-hand bay. Above the windows on either side of the door are eyebrow dormers each containing a three-light casement window. All windows have leaded glazing. The roof is hipped with a ridge stack situated at the junction with the added bay.
