Description
Orange Cottage is a mid-19th century cottage with a 20th-century addition. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a plain tile roof. The building is 1½ storeys high and has an L-shaped layout, with the original part consisting of two bays facing the road. At one end, there is a wing that is mainly from the 20th century. The older section has a two-light cast-iron lattice-glazed casement window on both floors, and the gable end displays an "M" in timber, representing Morant. The sides of the cottage feature a central gabled hood over the door, with similar casement windows on each side. A gabled dormer rises from the wall plate, complete with an overhanging roof and a similar casement window. There is an ornamental stack at the far end of the original part. On the right-hand side of the far bay, there is a single-storey, two-bay wing that includes a 20th-century projecting gabled wing and a copy of the other stack on the ridge in the center.
